Toyokuni Shuzo, founded in 1862, is a sincere venerable brewery in Aizu Bangemachi with over 150 years of history. Currently, the 5th generation owner serves as the TOJI (Master Brewer), maintaining a brewing style that honestly faces the Aizu terroir.
Their greatest pride is that they carefully perform "Fune-shibori" (traditional tank pressing) for their entire lineup, from ordinary sake to premium grades. Without relying on mechanization, they adhere to a creed of "temperate brewing" that maximizes the character of the raw rice and temperature management through the brewers' sharpened five senses. this stance of sparing no effort produces Toyokuni's unique deep maturity and rich umami that gently caresses the throat.
Their brands are versatile, including "Gakujuro," bearing the founder's name, and "Bange Bonge," which exudes affection for the local community.
