Takagi Shuzo is a historic brewery that has been brewing sake for about 130 years in Akaoka-cho, Konan City, Kochi Prefecture, known for the Dorome Festival and Eking Festival, located about 20km east of Kochi City, walking alongside the town. Currently, the fifth generation inherits the tradition.
It is thoroughly committed to Kochi materials, using underground water from the first-class Monobe River for brewing water, "Gin no Yume" and "Tosa Urara" for rice, and adopting Kochi yeast. Its goal is "to create 'Tosa Experience Local Sake' packed with the charm of Kochi as Kochi's culture."
Starting with the light and dry "Toyonoume Rakuo," known as the sake poured into large cups at the Dorome Festival, the fifth-generation owner Naoyuki Takagi and the sixth-generation master brewer Ippo Takagi work together in a three-legged race to continue exploring "Tosa Experience Local Sake" infused with the light of Kochi.
