Founded in 1754 (Horeki 4) by Tsuji Zenbei, an Omi merchant captivated by the pure waters of Moka, Tsuji Zenbei Shoten is a venerable brewery with over 270 years of history. Located in a spot within Moka City, Tochigi, where high-quality groundwater from the Kinugawa River system bubbles up, it has continued its craft by maximizing this natural blessing.
Inheriting the name "Zenbei" for generations, the brewery maintains the sincere merchant spirit of its Omi roots. While preserving traditional techniques, it also embraces innovation under 16th-generation owner-brewmaster Hiroyuki Tsuji. The brewery has achieved the remarkable feat of winning 10 consecutive gold medals at the National New Sake Competition, placing its technical prowess among the top tier in Japan.
The union of local rice from Moka's fertile granary, pure water, and skilled craftsmanship continues to produce sake that appeals to a wide range of enthusiasts, from the traditional "Sakuragawa" to the progressive "Tsuji Zenbei" brand. Carrying 270 years of heritage, it is one of Tochigi's leading breweries, pioneering the future of Japanese sake.
