Tsukinowa Shuzoten is a brewery located in Shiwa Town, inheriting traditional sake brewing in the land of Shiwa, known as the birthplace of Nanbu Toji. Family-run by President Takayuki Yokosawa and female Toji Yuko Yokosawa, under the motto of "Sake brewing as a family business, not a corporation," they continue careful sake brewing based on techniques and spirits inherited from generation to generation.
Using Iwate Prefecture rice for over 90% of production, they are particular about local production for sake rice, centering on "Gin Otome," "Gin Ginga," and "Yuinoka." They are also making innovative efforts such as manufacturing "Mochikko," a Junmai sake using 100% glutinous rice, which is generally considered unsuitable for sake brewing.
They are also active in collaboration with other local industries, such as red wine barrel aged sake aged for 323 days in barrels used for red wine aging at Shiwa Fruit Park. It is a brewery representing Shiwa that continues new challenges while protecting tradition.
