Okada Honke is a sake brewery founded in 1874 (Meiji 7), and is currently the only sake brewery in Kakogawa City.
It brews the local sake "Seiten" using underground water from the Kakogawa River, the largest river in Hyogo Prefecture, and 100% Hyogo Prefecture rice.
With an annual production volume of about 20,000 liters, it is a small brewery where everything from bottle washing to bottling is done by hand, handcrafted by only two people.
Collaborating with local agricultural high school students and contract farmers, they practice sake brewing rooted in the community with an emphasis on local production for local consumption.
They develop products that value regional characteristics, such as sake using natural yeast (salvia flower yeast) and special junmai sake using Yamada Nishiki from local Inami Town.
