Imanishi Seibei Shoten is a long-established brewery that began sake brewing in 1884, located in "Naramachi" where many buildings from the Edo and Meiji periods remain.
For generations, the Imanishi family brewed sake to offer to the gods as priests of Kasuga Taisha Shrine, but they were forced to resign due to the Separation of Shinto and Buddhism Order issued by the Meiji government, and started sake brewing in Nara, the birthplace of sake.
The sake name "Harushika" comes from the legend that the gods of Kasuga came riding on a deer. Since its founding in 1884, it is a brewery that continues to make high-quality sake in all aspects of taste, body, and aroma, inheriting traditional sake brewing such as fermentation using old-fashioned wooden barrels.
It is a famous brewery that conveys to the present the groundbreaking techniques established in Nara during the Muromachi period, such as "Morohaku-zukuri", "Dan-jikomi", and "Hi-ire", and the tradition called "Nanto Morohaku" from the place name "Nanto" referring to Nara.
"Harushika" is exported to and loved in more than 10 countries around the world, including the United States, South Korea, and France. In the building that was once used as part of the brewery, you can taste several types of sake for 700 yen (tax included), making it a popular spot for tourists.
