Sumikawa Sake Brewing is a brewery located in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, known for its representative brand 'Toyo Bijin'.
Believing in the motto 'water that has passed through rice plants', they aim to maximize the quality of the ingredients in sake brewing. Using pure water springing from the back mountain and high-quality sake rice grown with contract farmers, they brew beautiful sake with transparency.
The current brewery owner is Takafumi Sumikawa, who studied under Akitsuna Takagi of 'Juyondai' during his student days and inherited his skills and passion. Although they suffered severe damage from the torrential rain disaster in 2013, they achieved reconstruction with the support of many volunteers and peers.
In an environment rich in nature and water resources, they are earnestly facing sake brewing while cherishing the connection with the community.
