Okada Shuzo is a brewery founded in 1906 (Meiji 39) in Okadashimo, Ayauta-cho, Marugame City.
The biggest feature is the complete groundwater brewing pioneered in 1959, using high-quality natural water pumped from 70 meters underground as brewing water. This deep groundwater has few impurities and maintains stable water quality, providing an ideal environment for sake brewing.
The name of the main brand 'Kokusui' was named from the philosophy that 'Sake, the national alcohol, is the essence (sui) of rice, and essence leads to drunkenness (sui)'. They manufacture mellow sweet 'Genshu Nigori Sake' and medium 'Gennama' draft sake, and especially Genshu Nigori Sake is a unique product for which they have obtained a manufacturing patent.
It is one of the breweries representing Kagawa Prefecture, practicing sake brewing that is thoroughly particular about the quality of water, continuing the pioneering initiative of complete groundwater brewing for over 60 years.
