Housui Shuzo is a brewery located at Tsuji, Ikawa-cho, Miyoshi City, Tokushima Prefecture, founded in 1913 (Taisho 2). It stands near the Yoshino River and uses underground water from the Yoshino River pumped up from a well on the brewery premises for brewing.
In 1916 (Taisho 5), the sake brewed by Housui Shuzo was fragrant and delicious, so it was named 'Housui' after the fact that local ancestors composed Chinese poems calling the Yoshino River 'Yoshinogawa' or 'Housui'.
It has won prizes many times at the Annual Japan Sake Awards, and has also won gold prizes. In 2003 (Heisei 15), 'Sankyo no Biroku Housui Junmai Daiginjo' had the honor of being presented to the current Emperor when he was the Crown Prince.
Using the pure water of the Yoshino River and rice nurtured by the rich nature of Miyoshi, it continues sake brewing committed to tradition and quality.
