Abe Shuzo, established in 1804 (Bunka 1), is a brewery that has carved over 200 years of history in Kashiwazaki City, Niigata. Once facing a crisis of survival, the brewery was transformed into a presence that draws passionate attention from sake fans nationwide after the 6th generation, Yuta Abe, returned and breathed new life into tradition.
With the motto 'Enjoy Fermentation,' a young team with an average age in their late 20s takes on the challenge of sake brewing. Its most distinctive feature is the exquisite balance of powerful 'rice umami' and well-defined 'acidity,' which sets it apart from the king of Niigata sake, Tanrei Karakuchi.
Furthermore, they practice community-based brewing that looks toward the future of their hometown, Kashiwazaki, through initiatives like the 'Field-specific Series' aimed at preserving local landscapes and supporting contract farmers.
