Tsuka Shuzo is a long-established brewery founded in Akitsu-cho in 1848. Deeply influenced by Senzaburo Miura, the father of Ginjo sake, it is known as a brewery that adopted the soft water brewing method early on.
Its representative brand "Otafuku" won the first prize in the first National Sake Appraisal in 1907, making the high level of Hiroshima's sake brewing known throughout the country.
Although it suffered severe damage from the torrential rains in Western Japan in 2018, it has revived with much support and continues to brew carefully handcrafted sake as a brewery that passes on the climate and history of Akitsu.
