Nishiuchi Sake Brewery is a brewery that has been in business for over 150 years, located at the foot of Tanzan Shrine in the southern end of Sakurai City, Nara Prefecture, and started sake brewing under the brand name "Tanzan" in the early Meiji period.
Tanzan Shrine enshrines Fujiwara no Kamatari, who is famous for the Taika Reform, and is a tourist spot where the vermilion shrine shines beautifully with cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in autumn.
They make slightly dry and refreshing sake using only rice and rice koj, using Nara Prefecture's suitable rice Tsuyuhakaze and preparing it with famous water from the Mt. Tonomine system.
As a representative product, there is "Kijoshu" fermented using aged sake instead of brewing water, which has a taste like extremely sweet noble rot wine or ice wine. In addition, they are developing unique products such as "Ruijoshu" aged for 6 years which won the GOLD medal and Nara Old Sake Trophy at IWC2024, slightly cherry-colored pure rice sake "Himiko no Sato" using ancient rice, and active nigori sake "Daimyo Shoya Zake".
