Takizawa Shuzo, founded in Ogawa Town in 1863 during the late Edo period, moved to its current location in Fukaya in 1900 in search of high-quality water. The symbol of this brewery is the giant 20-meter-high chimney built with "Fukaya bricks," which supported the construction of modern Japan. Within the historic buildings designated as National Registered Tangible Cultural Properties, it continues its powerful brewing alongside Fukaya's industrial heritage.
The philosophy of its brewing is "sincere handwork." Using abundant underground water from the Arakawa system and local ingredients like Saitama's proud brewing rice "Sake Musashi," it faithfully inherits traditional "Nanbu Toji" techniques. The flavor, which draws out the umami of rice to the maximum while having a clean, crisp finish, is truly Fukaya's terroir itself. In contrast to the buildings that evoke historical weight, it constantly pursues the best glass with the latest quality control and passion.
The flagship brand "Kikuizumi" was named with the wish to be "as fragrant as a chrysanthemum and as pure as a spring." Additionally, "Seienkyo," bearing the pen name of Fukaya-born great figure Eiichi Shibusawa, is a Junmai Ginjo that embodies deep love and pride for the hometown. The elegant fine sake born from the traditional brick brewery serves as a bridge connecting Fukaya's history and culture to the present and future.
