Yamanokotobuki Shuzo is a long-established brewery founded in the Bunsei era of the Edo period, located in Kitano Town, Kurume City. Boasting a history of over 200 years, the brewery suffered devastating damage from a large typhoon, losing all 90 tanks and brewing equipment. Despite facing the double hardship of the former owner's passing around the same time, they rebuilt a small but functional brewery after a two-year suspension and resumed sake brewing.
After the 8th generation owner Ikuyo Katayama took office as president, they shifted from the traditional Toji system to a team system centered on young staff. Young brewers in their 30s and under work together on sake brewing, aiming for a significant drastic renovation in both sake quality and design.
In addition to the main brands "Yamanokotobuki" and "Mansaku," they develope a diverse lineup including innovative products and liqueurs. Using the experience of overcoming difficulties as nourishment, they are characterized by their attitude of continuing new challenges while protecting tradition.
