Takarayama Shuzo is a brewery founded in 1885, located at the entrance of Iwamuro Onsen in Ishize, Nishikan-ku, Niigata City. Its name, derived from the 'three provinces' (Sanshu/Aichi, Kishu/Wakayama, Oshu/Tohoku) deeply related to brewing, has conveyed gratitude for the rich harvest to people since ancient times.
In recent years, the 'Nisai no Kamoshi' project has attracted particularly great attention. A young duo from Tokyo University of Agriculture took over the innovative initiative of challenging sake brewing limited to people in their 20s from a brewery in Saitama and sublimated it in Niigata. Free ideas that are not bound by traditional common sense, such as using highly polished Koshihikari table rice, are making new sake fans enthusiastic. Along with the atmosphere of the hot spring resort, it is a very vibrant brewery that flexibly incorporates the sensibilities of the next generation while respecting tradition.
