Hagiwara Shuzo is a historic brewery located in Sakai Town, Ibaraki Prefecture, founded in 1855 (Ansei 2). Walking with the climate of Sakai Town, which prospered by the water transportation of the Tone River, they have continued traditional sake brewing for over 160 years.
The representative brand "Toku Masamune" is derived from a Chinese historical event stating, "Drinking sake when seizing the impetus, sometimes supplementing if the impetus runs out. There is sake in the joys and sorrows of life, and this is called sake virtue (Sake Toku)."
Using high-quality underground water from the Tone River system and Ibaraki's sake brewing suitable rice "Hitachi Nishiki," they perform careful brewing by hand. It is deeply familiar as a local sake essential for local festivals and events.
