Kumazawa Shuzo

Kumazawa Shuzo is the sole remaining brewery in the Shonan coastal region, located in Chigasaki City, Kanagawa. Since its founding in 1872, it has evolved alongside the local food culture for over 150 years. The brewery's grounds have been transformed into a 'Shonan Paradise,' where a Taisho-era brewery building serves as a restaurant and a relocated historic farmhouse houses a trattoria, complemented by an on-site bakery and gallery. Operating under the philosophy that 'sake brewing is town building,' the brewery cultivates its own sake rice and aims to achieve 100% production using locally grown Shonan rice soon. Their signature sake brand, 'Tensei,' perfectly balances rich umami with a refreshing, crisp finish reminiscent of the Shonan sea. Alongside their world-renowned 'Shonan Beer,' Kumazawa Shuzo continues to innovate, offering new lifestyles while passionately preserving the traditions and terroir of the region.
