Kira Shuzo

Kira Shuzo is a local sake brewery located in Ogata-machi, Bungo-Ono City, dedicated to entirely handcrafted, small-batch brewing with koji prepared in a traditional muro (koji room).
Ogata-machi in Bungo-Ono City is a region where Harajiri Falls has been selected as one of Japan's 100 Best Waterfalls, known as the Niagara of the Orient, and the area is recognized as a Japanese Geopark and UNESCO Ecopark. The brewery uses locally grown rice nurtured by water from Japan's 100 Famous Mountains and fertile soil.
While many breweries have moved toward mechanization, Kira Shuzo continues to uphold traditional handcrafting methods, practicing meticulous sake-making by hand at every stage of production.
As a member of Tansei Shurui, a company jointly established by three local breweries (Kira Shuzo, Hamashima Shuzo, and Murezuru Shuzo), nearly 100% of Kira Shuzo's production consists of OEM products for Tansei Shurui.
Its signature brands are "Yusuramomo" and "Tansei," preserving tradition while also embracing new approaches to sake-making suited to the times.
