Kitagawa Honke, founded in 1657 in Fushimi, is a prestigious brewery with a history of over 360 years.
Inheriting the sake brewing started by the founder Hyoe-mon Kitagawa in Fushimi, which once flourished with river boat transportation on the Uji River, they have walked alongside Kyoto's rich food culture.
Under the belief that "sake brewing starts from rice growing," they stick to a style of growing high-quality sake rice in cooperation with their own farm and local farmers, and elaborately brewing it with Fushimi's famous water.
In the Annual Japan Sake Awards, they have won Gold Awards more than 20 times from the Showa era to the present, and their stable high technical power is widely known along with the name "Tomio."
While protecting traditional techniques, with an attitude of flexibly responding to the needs of the times, they continue to brew valuable sake that richly colors daily meals.
