Okuto Shoji is a prestigious sake brewery founded in 1601 (Keicho 6), with a history of over 400 years.
The Okuto family prospered as major landowners in Sakoshi, engaged in the shipping business during the Edo period, and served as purveyors of sake for the Ako Domain.
Currently, as the only sake brewery in Ako City, the 18th generation owner, Toshifumi Okuto, brews sake under a three-person system as the master brewer.
Using the clear stream of the Chikusa River and Harima sake rice, they refrain from dry and light sake, aiming for rich umami and "drinkability".
Cherishing the goodness of traditional handmade methods, they brew carefully, superimposing the loyal heart of the Ako Gishi (loyal samurai) on sake brewing.
