Takizawa Honten was founded when the founder, Eizo Takizawa originally from Niigata, stayed at Naritasan for pilgrimage at the end of the Edo period, and received a divine message from Fudo Myoo in his dream saying "Brew sake here," so he stayed in Narita and founded the brewery. The brewery is the only one located on the approach to Naritasan. The well water of the brewery gained a reputation for being delicious high-quality water, and more people stopped by the liquor store to draw well water when visiting Naritasan, and later many stories were received saying that it was "the best of all medicines," such as "cured illness" and "lived long."
It uses groundwater from the vein flowing underground Naritasan, which is medium hard water, slightly rare for sake brewing. This water and high-quality rice create sake with a sharp and refreshing mouthfeel. For many years, it has been brewing sake that values the taste suitable for the region with "Nanbu Toji" from Iwate Prefecture, famous as one of the best in Japan.
