Murai Jozo

Murai Jozo is a historic brewery located in Makabe-cho, Sakuragawa City, Ibaraki Prefecture, which has been selected as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. Said to have been founded in the Empo era (1673-1681) of the early Edo period, it features a heavy brewery with over 300 years of history.
They use underground water from Mt. Tsukuba as brewing water and continue to protect traditional hand-made methods. As a brewery with atmosphere that harmonizes with the old townscape of Makabe, it has walked together with the history of the region.
With the motto of brewing sake loved by locals, they provide familiar sake that accompanies daily evening drinks while protecting the traditional taste.
