Sasamasamune Shuzo, founded in 1818, is a sincere venerable brewery with over 200 years of history in Kitakata. With the corporate motto "To create the real thing," they dare to reject excessive modernization and mass production, adhering to traditional brewing through craftsmen's manual work to this day.
Their technical prowess is proven by history. At the 1979 Tokyo Summit, the then-US President Jimmy Carter highly praised their Junmai sake. This moment made the world marvel at the essence of "Cool Japan" and became a pioneer of the local sake boom in Japan. Under the eighth-generation head Yujiro Iwata, they breathe modern sensibility into traditional skills, developing brewing that maximizes the individuality of various sake rice such as Aizu-grown "Fukunoka" and "Akaiwa Omachi."
While honoring the traditions of "until now," they are a brewery filled with a pioneering spirit representing Kitakata, carving out the possibilities of sake for "from now on."
