Yagawa Shuzo Co., Ltd. is a long-established brewery located at Inokubo, Shiraji, Ikeda-cho, Miyoshi City, Tokushima Prefecture, founded in 1855 (Ansei 2).
The Shiraji (Hakuchi) district is located on the left bank of the Yoshino River, historically prospered as a crossroads of Shikoku, and flourished as a river port for Yoshino River water transportation. Utilizing this geographical advantage, sake brewing has been carried out since the Edo period.
Bamboo (Sasa) grows thick on the mountain behind the brewery, and the brand name 'Sasamidori' was named after the green bamboo. Also, 'Sasa' is a word meaning sake, so it has a double meaning.
Previously, it manufactured two brands, 'Toyomasamune' and 'Sasamidori,' but now it focuses on only 'Sasamidori' for sake brewing. It is a small-scale brewery and does not distribute widely, continuing sake brewing mainly for local consumers.
