Moritami Shuzo Honke is the only brewery remaining within the old Sendai city limits, located in Aramachi, Wakabayashi-ku, Sendai. They built their brewery in the land of Aramachi, where clear water springs, and have continued to protect the tradition of handmade brewing since their founding.
The founder was from the Nanbu region and possessed the skills of a master brewer (Toji), and they carry on sake brewing that follows the lineage of Nanbu Toji.
Using the underflow water of the Hirose River and Tohoku rice centered on Miyagi Prefecture's sake rice "Kura no Hana," they aim for a sake quality that is light (tanrei) yet combines umami.
Embodying "urban terroir," it is characterized by the richness inherent in sake and a mellow, flavorful taste unique to handmade production.
Their representative brands are "Mori no Kikukawa" and "Moritami."
