Sekinoichi Shuzo is a historic brewery founded in the Taisho era, located in Ichinoseki City. It uses underground water gushing from the Ou Mountains as brewing water, and the Ichinoseki region is located in a land extremely blessed with rich water gushing from the Kitakami Mountains and Ou Mountains and rice cultivation.
The origin of the company name was bestowed by the Kan'in-no-miya imperial family, containing the meaning "Aim for the number one sake brewing that makes the people of the world happy." Using four types of sake rice: Yamada Nishiki, Gohyakumangoku, Toyonishiki, and Gin Ginga, its charm is the deep taste created with cool water and yeast that produces a high ginjo aroma.
Sake brewed with water nurtured by this earth and carefully selected rice using the secret techniques and love of Nanbu Toji has received high acclaim internationally, such as winning the Platinum Prize, the highest award in the Tasting Category at the MILANO SAKE CHALLENGE.
It also serves as a base for transmitting comprehensive fermented food culture, including not only sake brewing but also beer brewing and the operation of a brewery restaurant.
