Yokozeki Shuzo, founded in 1868 during the first year of the Meiji era, is a brewery boasting over 150 years of history in Misato Town, Kodama District, Saitama Prefecture. Located in the nature-rich Kodama Basin, it holds the ancestral belief of "brewing loved by the community." Each bottle is carefully brewed by a small number of brewery workers, centered around the family.
The characteristic of its brewing is the commitment to traditional methods without sparing effort. It uses pure underground water flowing from the rich mountains behind the Arakawa River and selected local brewing rice. In recent years, young brewers have been pursuing fresh and crisp flavors that suit modern dining tables while inheriting tradition.
Flagship brands include "Tenranzan" and "Tenume," which is deeply involved in local festivals, focusing on sake that stays close to the lives of local people. While not flashy, the gentle umami of rice spreads with one sip, and its warm quality that lets you truly relax is supported by many fans. Although small-scale, it is a passionate brewery that sincerely faces each process and continues to convey the terroir of Misato.
