Ryoban Shuzo was a brewery located in Ichinoseki City, born from the merger of 16 liquor stores in Higashi-Iwai and Nishi-Iwai due to business consolidation during the war. Taking advantage of its location near the World Heritage Site "Hiraizumi," sake brewed with Nanbu Toji techniques reflected the history and culture of the region.
The representative brand "Kanzan" is derived from the mountain name (sango) of Chuson-ji Temple, incorporating the cultural background of Hiraizumi into the brand name. Using local ingredients such as Iwate Prefecture's sake brewing rice "Gin Ginga," they worked on creating pure Iwate Prefecture sake using Iwate Prefecture yeast and Iwate Prefecture koji mold.
Characterized by an elegant aroma and a clean aftertaste brought out by long-term low-temperature fermentation, it received high acclaim, including consecutive Gold Prizes at the National New Sake Appraisal.
Note that the sake brewing business has ended, and it has converted to a real estate rental business.
