Fukumitsu Shuzo is a passionate brewery located in Oasa, Kitahiroshima Town, which was revived in 2019 by Hiroyasu Fukumitsu, the fourth generation and great-grandson of the founder, after the brewery had once closed down.
In Oasa, which is designated as a "Doburoku Special Zone," they are particular about locally grown sake rice "Koi-momiji" and Hiroshima yeast, and the brewery owner himself handles everything from cultivation to brewing in an "integrated production."
The representative brand "Asahikari" is a revival of the former sake brand as Doburoku. It is characterized by a fizzy micro-effervescence due to secondary fermentation in the bottle and a sharp dry taste that goes well with meals, and is attracting attention as a new local sake of Hiroshima.
