Hamachidori is a brewery founded in Kamaishi on the Rikuchu Coast during the Taisho era, brewing sake in the rich natural environment of the Sanriku sea and Kitakami Mountains, the home of Nanbu Toji. The origin of the brand name imagines the figure of plovers flocking on the Rikuchu Coast, characterized by sake brewing that takes advantage of the location surrounded by the sea and mountains.
The brewing water is underground water from Mt. Sennin in the Kitakami Mountains, expressing a sake quality with a gentle mouthfeel due to soft water. As for rice, they mainly use Iwate Prefecture rice such as "Yamada Nishiki," "Miyama Nishiki," and original varieties developed by Iwate Prefecture such as "Yuinoka" and "Gin Ginga."
They brew sake with a smart mouthfeel that matches fresh seafood and mountain delicacies, characterized by a smooth mouthfeel and sharp sweetness. The well-balanced taste that does not assert itself too much has excellent compatibility with fresh seafood caught off Rikuchu, and it is a sake rooted in the region where 60% of production is consumed in Kamaishi City and up to 90% in Iwate Prefecture.
Receiving many awards in overseas competitions, it has high international acclaim and has established a solid position as a sake to enjoy with Sanriku seafood.
