Kitashoji Shuzoten, located in Hineno, Izumisano City, Osaka, is a brewery that has preserved its tradition as the only sake brewer in the Senshu region since its founding in 1921 (Taisho 10).
With the motto "Exquisite sake, little by little," it is characterized by brewing that pursues "Karomi" (lightness) and "Maromi" (mellowness), which are techniques of the Nanbu school. The flagship brand "Sho no Sato" was named after the "Hineno Shoen," a Fukui estate of the Kujo family that flourished since the Kamakura period. Its flavor, reflecting the atmosphere of this history-rich land, is highly evaluated internationally and was served at the 2019 G20 Osaka Summit.
In recent years, it has continued to refine its techniques, winning gold medals at the National New Sake Awards for two consecutive years. The brewery also features a direct sales store and a "Kuramoto Cafe" open only on weekends and holidays. Here, visitors can enjoy sweets made with sake and local specialties, making it a beloved hub for disseminating sake culture where locals and tourists gather.
While valuing the spirit of traditional handmade brewing, it is a distinguished brewery of Izumisano that continues to propose new ways of being a sake brewery that harmonizes with modern lifestyles.
