Wakui Shuzo was a historical brewery once located in Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture, which supported the regional brewing culture. While many long-established breweries still remain in Chichibu today, Wakui Shuzo also continued brewing for many years, utilizing the pure water and clear air unique to this land.
The representative brand "Keicho" is a name that evokes a sense of historical depth, reminiscent of the Keicho era (1596-1615) in the early Edo period. Bearing the name of a powerful era when Ieyasu Tokugawa established the Edo Shogunate and Japan stepped into a new age, it provided sake loved by local people.
Although it has regrettably closed its business and it is now difficult to know its taste directly, it is an indispensable presence when talking about Chichibu's brewing history. The memory of "Keicho," which craftsmen once brewed with great care in a quiet brewery surrounded by Chichibu's mountains, is still carefully carved into the local history.
