Ikedaya Shuzo, established in 1812 (Bunka 9), is a brewery in Itoigawa, Niigata, with over 200 years of history. It is situated in a unique natural environment, recognized as Japan's first UNESCO Global Geopark, with the Sea of Japan to the north and the 3000-meter peaks of the Northern Alps to the south. The brewery uses pure subsoil water from the Himegawa River, which originates at Mount Shirouma in the Northern Alps. Boasting an impressive track record of seven Gold Medals at the Annual Japan Sake Awards in the last decade, Ikedaya Shuzo continues to brew exquisite sake that is fine-grained, deep, and has a refreshing finish. Their sake, imbued with deep respect for local history and nature, receives high acclaim from enthusiasts both in Japan and abroad.
