Founded in 1939 (Showa 14), Fuji Shuzo has a brewery in Imaichi-cho, Izumo City, at the foot of Izumo Taisha Shrine.
It was named with the ambition of "wanting to make the best sake in Japan that is loved like Mt. Fuji in the land of Izumo." Sticking to "all handmade koji" inherited from the first generation and old-fashioned "Kibune Shibori" (wooden tank pressing), they stick to warm sake brewing by human hands even in modern times when mechanization is progressing. The simple and powerful taste woven by the clear underground water of the Hii River and sake rice from Shimane Prefecture is attractive.
