Abekan Shuzo Store was founded in 1716 (Kyoho 1) and is a long-established brewery with over 300 years of history as the official sake brewer for Shiogama Shrine.
Shiogama City is a port town said to have the highest number of sushi restaurants per capita in Japan, and is rich in fresh seafood. Reflecting this regional characteristic, they brew sake with an emphasis on compatibility with seafood dishes, under the concept of "sake that makes local fish delicious."
Using mainly rice grown in Miyagi Prefecture, they aim for a sake quality that is clean yet has umami, enhancing fish dishes. It is characterized by a delicate design that is light yet flavorful, tightens the taste of salt, and enhances even the temperature of the dish.
They develop three brands, "Abekan," "Omotaka Otokoyama," and "Shiki no Matsushima," pursuing harmony with meals with different sake qualities for each.
While responding to customer tastes that change with the times, they continue to protect the philosophy of sake brewing that is close to the food culture of local Shiogama.
