in Toyama
Toyama Prefecture is surrounded by 3,000-meter class mountains like the Tateyama Mountain Range and boasts world-class snowfall accumulation. Snow that piles up in winter becomes cold snowmelt water even in midsummer, providing optimal water for sake brewing. A national high of eight locations are selected for the 100 Best Waters.
Toyama breweries are characterized by their commitment to quality, often using 80% sake-suitable rice compared to the usual 20%. The prefecture's representative rice 'Oyama Nishiki' creates a light, well-balanced, and dignified flavor, while 'Tomi no Ka' features an elegant, smooth taste. 'Gohyakumangoku' is also widely cultivated.
Toyama sake is often 'Tanrei Karakuchi,' with a clean finish that enhances the taste of cuisine. The pristine water from the Tateyama range, high-quality sake rice, and abundant snowmelt water create a blessed environment that nurtures Toyama's sake into some of the nation's finest.

"Yoshinotomo" is the flagship brand representing the dedication of Yoshinotomo Shuzo, Toyama's only Junmai-only specialist. The name comes from the 'Yoshi' of the Yoshida family and 'Tomo' meaning 'friend,' reflecting their goal to create a warm sake that connects people. Brewed exclusively with Toyama-grown rice and Tateyama mountain spring water, without any added alcohol, it features a solid umami core and a crisp, dry finish that disappears cleanly. As an 'ultimate everyday sake' that never becomes tiring—a pinnacle achievable only by a 100% Junmai brewery—it is beloved by a wide range of sake enthusiasts.
