Nanyo Jozo, founded in 1870 in Hanyu City, Saitama Prefecture, is a brewery that radiates an overwhelming presence in the modern sake scene. Based on the history of Hanyu, the "Village of Indigo" once prosperous for indigo dyeing, it is known for innovative brewing not bound by existing frameworks while respecting tradition.
Currently led by the 5th generation brewer, a very small team of three family members performs careful handiwork as if shaving their souls in each batch. The greatest charm is the "tropical and mellow fruitiness" that overturns the concept of sake. Its unique flavor, harmonizing dense aromas reminiscent of pineapple or mango with juicy, transparent sweetness, captivates fans domestically and internationally.
The flagship brand "Hana-abi" is infused with a deep and warm wish that "both drinkers and brewers bloom like flowers bathing in sunlight." Due to its rarity and shocking deliciousness, it has made its name as a "phantom sake" for which a scramble is always fought. On the other hand, it continues to carefully brew the traditional brand "Ai no Sato," recording regional history. It is a prestigious brewery continuing to transmit impressive fine sake created by delicate handiwork from Hanyu to the world.
