Asakan Shuzo Store is a sake brewery in Furukawa, Osaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, founded in 1919 (Taisho 8).
The main brand "Yoimai" is derived from the Noh play "Shojo," and was named after the scene where Shojo, a legendary liquor-loving spirit beast, gets drunk and dances.
The biggest feature is that they use "pure water" from which more than 90% of impurities have been removed with a 0.0001-micron precision RO (reverse osmosis membrane) filter for brewing water. This realizes clear sake brewing without unpleasant tastes.
In 2002 (Heisei 14), Tsukamoto Kokichi Shoten, a brewing equipment company in Tokyo, took over the management, and they continue sake brewing that fuses tradition and new technology in Osaki.
