Asakura Shuzo is a brewery located in Minagi, Asakura City, Fukuoka Prefecture, brewing sake in a land blessed with the rich natural environment of the Chikugo River basin.
Established as Maruyama Shuzo by the founder Isaburo Maruyama, it inherits the tradition of sake brewing taking advantage of the location of the granary of the Asakura region.
Asakura City is located in the middle basin of the Chikugo River, the largest river in Kyushu, and the Chikushi Plain is known as one of Kyushu's leading granaries. In addition to being a production area of this abundant rice, it is blessed with high-quality brewing water called underground water from the Aso mountain range, and these blessings of nature are the foundation of sake brewing. The brewing water is clear water pumped up from deep underground, characterized by soft water quality with excellent mineral balance.
Through the history of corporate restructuring, through a merger with Miyoshi Shuzojo (later ASEED BREW) in Hiroshima Prefecture, it develops unique sake brewing that fuses Hiroshima's traditional brewing technology with Fukuoka's climate. The main brand "Miyoshi Masamune" is a brand inherited from this connection with Hiroshima, and products bearing the Toji name "Naoemon", which has been succeeded for generations, are also developed.
As a brewery standing in the quiet rural landscape of the Asakura region, it continues sake brewing rooted in the region, making products that maximize the blessings of the Chikugo River water system and the geographical advantage of Kyushu's granary.
