Komatsu Shuzo Co., Ltd. is a long-established brewery founded in the late Edo period, located in Ochi-cho, Karatsu City. It is a 6-minute walk from Kyuragi Station on the JR Karatsu Line. Daisuke Komatsu became the owner-brewer at the age of 31 and revived the brewery. After studying at the National Research Institute of Brewing and training at a sake brewery in Shimane Prefecture, he proved his ability by winning numerous awards at sake competitions from the very first year of the revival. Ochi-cho is home to famous spots such as the "Warabino Rice Terraces," one of Japan's largest dating back to the Muromachi period, and the "Mikaeri Falls." Avoiding mechanization of all processes, they practice careful sake brewing committed to handmade small-batch production. Its representative brands are "Manrei" and "Miraikyo".
