Sekiguchi Shuzo, located in Sugito Town, Kitakatsushika District, Saitama Prefecture, is a long-established brewery that has protected tradition since the Edo period, a town that flourished long ago as a post town on the Nikko Highway. Since the era of the former shop name "Toshimaya," it has continued to provide healing drinks to travelers passing through the post town, walking along with the history of Sugito.
The greatest commitment is brewing with "soft water" that gently embraces, making use of rich groundwater from the Tone River system. Clear local water slowly pulls out the umami of rice, sublimating it into a mellow and deep-flavored sake that brings peace of mind with one sip. While carefully inheriting traditional techniques, its sincere attitude of condensing local charm into every drop of sake is still loved by many people today.
The flagship brand "Hosen" is clear like its name meaning "abundant spring," a masterpiece where the original sweetness of rice stands out. Additionally, it develops a lineup infused with deep love for regional terroir and history, such as "Sugito-juku" recording memories of the post town and the auspicious "Sugito Shichifukujin." Carrying regional tradition, it is a prestigious community-based brewery connecting the rich culture of Sugito to the future.
