Masuda Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. was founded in the 2nd year of Kan'ei (1625) and is located in the Ipponmatsu Iwaya district of Tenri City, Nara Prefecture. It has a history of about 350 years and is located at the intersection of the old Ise Kaido and Yamanobe no Michi (an old road mentioned in the Man'yōshū).
Underground water from the Kongo mountain range is used as brewing water, and it is transported about 1km to the brewery. This water is somewhat soft and suitable for sake brewing.
The traditional brand "Miyakohime" is derived from "Miyakohime", the mother of Emperor Shomu who built the Great Buddha, and features an elegant and pure taste inspired by the noble princess of the ancient capital.
The limited distribution brand "Shin'in" is a brand carefully brewed in small quantities, and has a name meaning "indescribable, excellent charm". All are Junmai sake, pursuing a powerful umami typical of Nara sake, and are designed as sake to be enjoyed with meals.
