Gensui Shuzo is a long-established brewery in Kurayoshi with a history of over 170 years, founded in the Kaei era of the Edo period.
It was once familiar under the brand name "Asahi Masamune," but in 1913, the sake name was changed to "Gensui" (Marshal) in honor of Admiral Heihachiro Togo's inauguration as Marshal. Since then, they have continued to pursue quality worthy of the name.
Located in a corner of the white wall warehouse district, which is a symbol of Kurayoshi, it features Ginjo brewing at low temperatures utilizing the chilling climate. Sake brewed using traditional techniques such as drip collecting by bag hanging using highly polished sake brewing suitable rice such as "Yamada Nishiki," "Tamasakae," and "Goriki" from Tottori Prefecture has a good balance of flavor and aroma and a refreshing taste.
