Suehiro Shuzo, founded in 1850, is a representative brewery in Aizu-Wakamatsu City with over 170 years of history.
Nine separate structures within the brewery are designated as national Registered Tangible Cultural Properties, where traditional brewing continues within these historically significant buildings. It is also famous as the birthplace of "Yamahai-style" brewing, inheriting the philosophies of Kinichiro Kagi—a pivotal figure in modern sake history—and is known nationwide as a holy ground for Yamahai.
Using Aizu-grown rice and pure underground water from "Mount Seaburi," its exceptional technical prowess is proven by achievements like winning Gold Medals for five consecutive years at the National New Sake Awards. While protecting its founding spirit, its constant pursuit of innovation has culminated in numerous masterpieces like the flagship "Gensai" and "Suehiro," powerfully promoting Aizu's sake culture both in Japan and abroad.
