Narimasa Shuzo, located in Nanto City, Toyama, is a brewery that breathes history, named after the fierce Sengoku warrior Sassa Narimasa, the former ruler of Etchu.
They use brewing water from the legendary 'Yari no Saki no Yusui' (Spring at the Spear's Tip), which according to lore, gushed forth when Sassa Narimasa struck the ground with his spear. This pristine spring water from the foothills of Mount Io gives their sake both strength and clarity. Primarily using local Nanto-grown rice like 'Gohyakumangoku' and 'Oyamanishiki,' they faithfully continue traditional brewing practices.
The brewery is also famous for originating the 'Narimasa Trust Ginjo Association,' the first Japanese sake fund of its kind, which now connects over 700 members directly to the brewing process. Their flagship brand 'Narimasa' is characterized by a solid umami core and a clean finish, making it a beloved food companion that pairs perfectly with Toyama's rich mountain delicacies, whether served chilled or warm.
