Miyozakura Jozo is a brewery founded in 1893, located in Ota-juku, the 51st post town of the Nakasendo. In Ota-juku, known as a difficult point of the Nakasendo sung in folk songs, it brews sake using the underground water of the Kiso River (selected as one of the Ministry of the Environment's 100 Exquisite Waters in 1985; it is medium-soft water with a slight sweetness, producing a soft and gentle taste). The representative brand "Miyozakura" was named in prayer for the eternal prosperity of the Japanese people. It compares the harmony of the five tastes and five senses of sake to the five petals of a cherry blossom, and embeds the happiness of being involved in sake brewing into the ten petals representing the Ten Virtues of Sake. "Tsushimaya" is a limited distribution product specializing only in Junmai-style premium sake, named after the trade name at the time of founding, aiming for sake that heals drinkers and makes them smile.
