Higashiyama Shuzo was a traditional brewery formerly located in Aizu-Wakamatsu City. With a history of branching off from the prestigious "Hanaharu Shuzo," they brewed brands deeply loved by locals, such as "Higashiyama" and "Sharaku."
In particular, their "Koten Sharaku," featuring Toshusai Sharaku's ukiyo-e prints on the label, gained popularity for its artistic design and smooth, crisp taste, becoming a symbol of Aizu's local sake culture. Although the brewery is now closed, its proud brands and exceptional brewing soul have been passed down to "Miyaizumi Meijo" (formerly Miyanomizuki Meijo), which shares the same roots, and have since evolved into nationally popular brands. The tradition nurtured by Higashiyama Shuzo continues to live on in the hearts of sake fans in a new form.
