Kikubijin Shuzo is a long-established brewery with a history of nearly 300 years, founded in the 20th year of Kyoho (1735) in Setaka-machi, Miyama City, Fukuoka Prefecture. The trade name is "Satsumaya." Having a deep connection with Kitahara Hakushu, a poet saint of Yanagawa, Hakushu visited this brewery frequently because his sister married the 6th generation owner.
The calligraphy of the representative brand "Kikubijin" was written by Hakushu for the name of this sake he loved along with his own poetry. Using underground water of the Yabe River and rice of the Chikugo Plain, the sake brewed with the technique of Yanagawa Toji features "Noujun Umakuchi" (rich and savory) with plump sweetness like glutinous rice and richness.
