Gekkeikan Sake Co., Ltd.

Gekkeikan, founded in 1637 by Jiemon Okura in Fushimi, is one of Japan's representative comprehensive liquor manufacturers.
In the Meiji era, the 11th generation Tsunekichi Okura established the "Okura Sake Research Institute" ahead of the industry, pushing forward the modernization of sake brewing from a scientific perspective and achieving a dramatic improvement in quality.
They have brought numerous innovations to sake culture, such as the release of sake without preservatives (salicylic acid), sake with a cup for station sales, and the completion of Japan's first "Four-Season Brewing Brewery" in 1961.
While protecting the tradition of smooth and mellow "Onnazake" (soft sake) created by Fushimi's soft groundwater, they develop a variety of products fusing the latest technology and sensibility.
Their attitude of respecting tradition and innovation is recognized as a member of the "Henokiens," an international association of family-owned companies with histories of over 200 years, and as a prestigious company, they continue to transmit the quality and charm of sake to the world.
