Kobayashi Shuzo Honten is a long-standing brewery founded in the mid-Edo period with a history of over 230 years. It has consistently maintained the production of "delicious sake."
The brand name "Bandai" originated in the era of the second generation when they acquired a stone shaped like an old turtle and named it after the proverb "A turtle lives for ten thousand years (mannen/bandai)."
Using clear underground water from the Sangun Mountain Range as brewing water, it has continued brewing with this water for over 200 years. For raw rice, it uses sake-brewing suitable rice from Fukuoka Prefecture such as "Yamada Nishiki" and "Yumeikkon," practicing brewing committed to local Fukuoka.
With clear water from the Sangun Mountain Range and careful, dedicated manual work, it produces rich sake with a splendid ginjo aroma. It offers a diverse lineup with about 20 types of sake products alone.
